Jacobs wants clear win, no controversy against Canelo

Daniel Jacobs wants to prove to everyone he’s the best 160-pound fighter in the world.

Daniel Jacobs has already heard and discussed plenty about the potential for a bum decision in Saturday’s fight with Canelo Alvarez on DAZN at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

For one thing, it’s Vegas. For another, the same three judges who scored Canelo-GGG II are going to be the judges for this fight. For another, Canelo’s the A-side, the $365 million man of DAZN.

Jacobs (35-2, 29 KO) has repeatedly said that he’s not worrying about that at all, that he’ll just do his job.

“I don’t want no controversy,” he said at Tuesday’s Grand Arrivals in Las Vegas. “I want to be victorious and the fans and the boxing public to know I’m the best middleweight in the world.”

As for potentially needing a knockout to win, he’s not going that far, but he believes he can knock Alvarez out, which nobody else has done, and which even the powerful Gennady Golovkin never came close to doing in 24 rounds.

“I’ve always envisioned having my hand raised. I’ve been very vocal about getting the knockout,” he said. “My skills will set up whatever arises in the fight. I have an 80 percent knockout ratio, so if I get a guy hurt, you know I can get him out of there.”
