Somali Muslim Officer Who Killed Woman Reporting a Rape Found Guilty

0

The media usually wants to see police officers convicted when an unarmed civilian is shot and killed. The Mohammed Noor story has followed the opposite course. If the races and religions were reversed, if a white cop had shot a black woman who had called for help, there would have been protests and outrage. Instead, in the Mohammed Noor case, the media was complicit after the fact.

"Mohamed Noor's story began in Somalia, an ocean away," the Minneapolis Star Tribune titled its piece on the killer.

Justine Damond's story also began an ocean away. But her life doesn't matter. Not to the Star Tribune. But it did to the jury that convicted Noor of murder.

Former Minneapolis police officer Mohamed Noor was found guilty of second-degree manslaughter and third-degree murder Tuesday. He has been acquitted of the second-degree murder charge.

Noor fatally shot 40-year-old bride-to-be Justine Ruszczyk Damond — originally from Sydney, Australia — on July 15, 2017 in Minneapolis.

Damond was killed minutes after she made a 911 call to report a disturbance behind her Minneapolis home. She lived on Washburn Avenue South with her fiancé, Don Damond, 50, whom she had planned to marry in August 2017, one month after the shooting occurred.

Transcripts released by the city of Minneapolis show how Damond spent her final moments attempting to help a stranger she believed was possibly being raped.

Noor's story began in Somalia. It will hopefully end in a cell.
