KATE Middleton today glowed in green as she arrived to open the new home of a leading mental health charity for kids.

The Duchess of Cambridge, who is a keen advocate for children’s wellbeing, smiled as she was welcomed to the Anna Freud National Centre for Children and Families in her first royal job since the Easter break.

As part of her visit, the 37-year-old meet children and their families and take part in a music class during her visit.

And the mum-of-three appeared in good spirits as she headed into the London King’s Cross centre this morning, wearing a mid-length green Emilia Wickstead dress matched with a tan purse.

Today’s launch will see the Anna Freud National Centre for Children and Families – who Kate is patron of – launch its Kantor Centre of Excellence.

Kate was most recently seen at the Anzac Day Service with her brother-in-law Prince Harry – who is expecting his first child with Meghan Markle any day.

The pair had also headed to the Easter Sunday Service together, with reports the “Fab Four” then had a showdown at the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s home in Windsor over their alleged “feud”.

Kate was this week made a Dame Grand Cross in a direct honour from the Queen on her eighth wedding anniversary with Prince Williamfor her work as a member of the royal family.

The duchess has prioritised visits to organisations that focus on England’s youth this year – visiting a number of schools and child play centres including the Scouts  in the past few weeks.

She also played with youngsters at the Henry Fawcett Children’s Centre in March, chatting with fellow mums about bringing up toddlers.

The visit came just weeks after the 37-year-old admitted she was “feeling broody” during a visit to Northern Ireland – laughing “William would be a little worried” at the idea of a fourth child.

ALL ABOUT THE KIDS

Today’s event will mark the Anna Freud National Centre for Children moving its various departments under one roof, bringing together the best in research, policy and practice.

It will be a space where leaders in neuroscience, mental health, social care and education work together with children and young people to improve understanding and practice.

The centre will provide training for professionals and postgraduate teaching for the leaders of tomorrow.

At the heart of the centre will be the Pears Family School, a school for children who have been excluded.

The school combines mental health care and education for children aged five to 14, in a setting where a parent joins their child in the classroom.

The centre is named after Anna Freud, the pioneer of child psychoanalysis – and daughter of the famous psychoanalyst Sigmund Freud – who was instrumental in its creation.

She set up the Hampstead War Nurseries in 1941 in response to the social and emotional upheaval faced by children in wartime, and over the decades it developed into a centre of teaching and research and a major service provider.

Professor Peter Fonagy, chief executive of the Anna Freud Centre, said: “Childhood mental health disorders have reached unacceptably high levels. As a society, we have a moral imperative to drive change on children’s mental health.

“Opening our new building is our contribution to this – giving parents, communities and practitioners the skills, knowledge and support to help children build their health and wellbeing, and the confidence to seek professional help when needed.”
