Women, 21, found dead in home near Cardiff University as 22-year-old man arrested
A MURDER probe has been launched after a young woman died at a home close to Cardiff University.
The 21-year-old was discovered after cops were scrambled to reports of an “incident” – with a man, 22, arrested on suspicion of murder.
She lived in the Cathays area of Cardiff, which is just minutes from the university and full of student houses, but it isn’t clear if she was a student.
Next of kin has been informed and they are being supported by specially trained liaison officers.
Horrified locals say cops and forensic officers swooped on the house yesterday.
One female student told Wales Online there were eight police cars on the road until midnight, adding: “It was very scary, I didn’t know what was going on.”
Another added: “I didn’t sleep at all, I’ve got a little girl here and she was couldn’t sleep, she was crying.”
Police say the woman lived locally and are now carrying out formal identification.
Senior Investigating officer Detective Chief Inspector Darren George, from South Wales Police Major Crime, said: “A murder investigation has commenced and a 22-year-old male person has been arrested on suspicion murder.
“I am keen to hear from anyone who can offer information in relation to the investigation or would have been in the Glynrhondda Street area of Cathays between midday on Monday April 29 and 1810 hrs on Tuesday April 30 2019, who may have seen or heard anything in connection with this matter .”
