Furious Coronation Street fans blame new producer Iain MacLeod for five stars quitting in three months
FURIOUS Coronation Street viewers have hit out at new producer Iain MacLeod for five stars quitting in three months – but show insiders say he’s NOT to blame.
Fans have taken to Twitter claiming that the arrival of show boss Iain has driven the stars to quit.
The viewers took to social media to complain after Faye Brookes (who plays Kate) announced she was leaving – just days after Tristan Gemmill (Robert), Connie Hyde (Gina), Bhavna Limbachia (Rana) and Kym Marsh (Michelle) revealed they were quitting the show.
“Well done Iain McLeod, you have ruined Corrie!” ranted one viewer, while another said: “that’s what you get for having a pure disaster for your producer”.
Another added: “I won’t support Corrie in its awful current state with Iain as producer.”
A fourth fan was a bit more blunt, saying: “And now Kate is leaving #CoronationStreet as well wouldn’t it have been nice for Kate and Rana to leave together? Wouldn’t it be nice to know what the f*** is going on behind the scenes at Corrie?”

However, soap insiders assure The Sun Online it’s not the case.
An insider said: “Corrie’s cast is the biggest it has ever been, and actors always come and go in a soap.
“Producers have recently cast Gemma’s brother and four members of the Bailey family.
“Corrie is a great show to work on and everyone is very excited about Iain’s plans for the summer, there are some massive storylines coming up.
“Sometimes actors want to try other things, sometimes storylines dictate that people will leave.
“There is no issue at all with Iain.”
Coronation Street have been contacted for comment.
