How does Line of Duty series 5 end? Rochenda Sandall has addressed what’s in store for the big finale
LINE of Duty star Rochenda Sandall has strongly hinted that fans will not be finding out the identity of H once the series concludes next week.
Following Ted Hasting’s shock arrest in episode 5, the hunt for H intensifies, but it looks as if viewers will have to wait until season six to solve one of the longest mysteries on TV.
How will the series end?
Following the end of episode five on April 28, 2019, fans learned that Ted Hastings had not only been suspended from his duties but also arrested on two separate charges.
Hastings professes his innocence, adding that he’s being framed as ‘H’, but it doesn’t seem as if everyone is all that convinced.
The synopsis for the sixth and final episode reads: “The intense search for the mysterious H reaches its climax as long-buried secrets finally come to light.”
Dozens of theories have flooded social media with fans trying to puzzle the missing pieces together.
Every character from Patricia Carmichael to Gill Biggeloe has been accused of being behind Ted’s downfall and framing him with a crime he didn’t commit.
But are we really going to be getting the answers we want to be answered in the final episode? Apparently not.

What has Rochenda Sandall said about the finale?
Rochenda – during an appearance on This Morning – strongly hinted that the identity of H will carry on over through season six.
There will be “some form” of conclusion, she said, before going on to mention that there’s another series to follow.
Fans were quick to view the comment as her way of saying that there won’t be an actual ending to the narrative concerning H – at least not yet.
“It will certainly have some form of conclusion,” she mentioned, “but as I’m sure you’re all well aware, there’s still another series to go and there’s lots of details.”
Sandall, who plays Lisa McQueen in the BBC show, was quick to decline commenting on when viewers will find out the truth behind H.
“I cannot tell you that!” she shared. “Come on.”
“People don’t want to know. They say, ‘Actually, you know what, don’t tell me’. They want to keep it a secret, and they like being the detectives as well.
Catch the final episode on Sunday, 5 May 2019 on ITV at 9pm.
