Car slams into Army Reserve Centre in Leeds as cops launch probe

COPS have launched a probe after a car slammed into an Army barracks this morning.

Officers raced to the scene in Leeds, West Yorks., after the dark grey Ford Focus hit a wall outside the Reserve Centre.

The mangled wreckage of the car is currently being examined by specialist forensic officers.

Its front right tyre was ripped off in the collision which happened at around 10am today.

The driver of the vehicle has been taken to hospital. His injuries are unknown.

West Yorkshire Police said it is treating it “as a medical emergency at the moment”.

A massive cordon has been thrown up and the road closed as officers continue to investigate.

A police spokeswoman said: “We were called at just after 10am this morning to reports of road traffic collision on Regent Street in Leeds.

“A grey Ford was in collision with a wall and a male occupant was subsequently taken to Leeds General Infirmary for treatment.

“At this stage it is believed he had suffered a medical episode at the wheel.”
