Army parades suspected gunrunners, kidnappers, others in Plateau state

Thirty-seven suspects have been paraded by Operation Safe Haven (OPSH) in Plateau state for various offences ranging from gunrunning, kidnapping, armed robbery to militia activities.

According to the OPSH commander, Major General Augustine Agundu, the suspects include a suspected gunrunners, one Sunday Bala, who has been on the watch list of the Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA), and Yufus Ezekiel who has been on the task force’s watch list, Daily Trust reports.

Legit.ng gathers that Bala was arrested at his residence in Binta Gida village in Mangu local government area of the state.

He was arrested with 13 locally made revolvers, three pistols, two Dane guns, six rounds of 7.62mm special and assorted tools for fabrication of firearms.

Ezekiel was allegedly found with two locally fabricated Ak47 rifles, two magazines and six rounds of 7.62mm concealed in a bag of corn.

Agundu said: “Preliminary investigations linked his (Ezekiel) atrocities to a serving staff of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Plateau State Command, Insp. Pam Musa, who is an accomplice in their dealings on illegal arms.

“Unfortunately, the inspector absconded on sighting troops, abandoning his car. The NSCDC has been contacted to arrest the inspector accordingly."

Fourteen criminals arrested after a gun duel with troops of OPSH were also paraded by the commander.

According to the commander, six suspected kidnappers were also arrested in Wase local government area of the state with guns, machetes and knives.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that the police in Plateau said three persons and about 319 cattle were killed in fresh violence which erupted in different parts of Bassa local government area of the state.

The state police spokesperson, Tyopev Terna, said the 319 cattle were killed in Billi and Ariri districts of the local government areas.
