Fans compare AJ fight with Ruiz to when ‘Mike Tyson’ fought Homer Simpson, with bout labelled ‘a joke’
FANS have given their verdict on Anthony Joshua’s “joke” bout against Andy Ruiz – by comparing it to “Mike Tyson’s” cartoon fight against Homer Simpson.
Ruiz, 29, replaced American Jarrell Miller at late notice for the Madison Square Garden bout on June 1.
The New York event is still going ahead though, but fans have been quick to point out how Ruiz does not look in the same kind of shape as ripped Joshua.
The Brit is hot favourite to win – with a best price of just 1 to 16 – and there have been plenty of fans left unimpressed with the match-up.
To his credit, Ruiz – who is 12-1 to cause an unimaginable upset – has 32 career wins and just one defeat to former champ Joseph Parker in 2016.
But one fan clearly gives him no chance and hilariously tweeted a picture of Homer Simpson having his face knocked in by Iron Mike Tyson-inspired character Drederick Tatum.
The fan even tweaked quotes from the episode of the TV show to poke fun at the match-up.
‘WHAT A JOKE’
Another onlooker tweeted: “AJ’s new opponent Andy Ruiz Jr… what a joke!”
Lennox Lewis was not impressed with the match-up and called for there to be heavyweight unification fights.
The Brit legend would know, he was an undisputed heavyweight champ himself.
