May Day rallies descend into violent clashes with police in Paris as demonstrations are held around the world

Groups of hooded, black-clad people threw rocks and other objects at police officers, smashed up vehicles, and set fires as the May Day rallies in the French capital quickly took a violent turn on Wednesday.
