Dad transforms his kitchen for just £50 using B&Q tile paint and marble-effect worktop stickers
A DAD has revealed how he was able to completely redecorate his dated kitchen for just £50 – and now it’s virtually unrecognisable.
Darren Osman shared the results of his home makeover on the Facebook group, Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK.
The Southampton based dad shared two snaps of his kitchen, one before and one after the makeover.
The first image shows a clean but slightly old fashioned model in the form of oak cabinets, brass handles and moss green tiles.
But you would be forgiven for thinking that the second image was entirely different room thanks to the crisp white cabinets, “marble” worktops and “slate” tiles.
However, Darren revealed that he was able to transform his kitchen for just £50, swapping the pricey materials for faux versions.
He used a Fablon marble effect wrap to achieve the finish on his counter tops, and a tin of grey tile paint made it look as though he had invested in expensive slate slabs.
Darren completed the look by repainting his units and handles to create a clean white finish.
And fellow members of the group were seriously impressed with his achievements, with Darren’s post amassing almost 4,000 likes and hundreds of comments praising his handy work.
One wrote “What a difference!! Looks lovely” while another added “Looks great for £50 well done.”
A third agreed writing: “Brilliant transformation for the price. Want mine done x”
And one particularly impressed group member added: “Omg doesn’t even look like the same kitchen. Looks amazing.”
It comes just a day after a woman revealed how she revamped the kitchen she “hated” for just £45 and in less than 24 hours.
Amba Douglas, from Maidstone, Kent, took to the same Facebook group where she shared her dramatic before and after photos.
The before images see Amba’s lacklustre kitchen, which was made up of pine cupboards and an unremarkable wooden countertop.

But in less than a day her space has had a chic modern makeover with the after photos displaying sleek white cabinets and a marble effect work top.
Amba explained that she had purchased marble effect Fablon costing just £6.50 a roll and a gloss paint at £18 to achieve her dream kitchen.
