We won’t respond to Afenifere leader Adebanjo's comment on Buhari - Presidency

- Adebanjo had said that he would not recognise President Buhari as the winner of 2019 presidential election
- A senior special assistant on media and publicity to the president, Garba Shehu, said the Yoruba leader only expressed his opinion
The presidency on Wednesday, May 1, said it would not comment on the remarks made by a leader of Afenifere, Chief Ayo Adebanjo, that he would not recognise President Muhammadu Buhari as the winner of the 2019 presidential election until the courts declares him the winner.
The Independent reports that Adebanjo had in a chat said he is ready for arrest if the federal government believes his remark is treasonable.

Legit.ng gathered that in his reactions, Mallam Garba Shehu, a senior special assistant on media and publicity to the president, said he has no reaction to Adebanjo’ s statement, adding that the Afenifere leader is merely expressing his opinion.
“I don’t have any reaction to what he has said. He is only expressing his opinion'', he said.
Speaking on calls by some Nigerians that Adebanjo should be arrested, Shehu said those making the calls were also expressing their opinions which he said is different from Adabanjo’s views.
“They are also expressing their opinion, which means their opinion is different from his own”, he said.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng had previously reported that a leader of pan-Yoruba socio-political organisation, Chief Ayo Adebanjo, declared that he would not recognise President Muhammadu Buhari as president-elect of Nigeria because the 2019 presidential election that produced him was a farce.
The elder statesman expressed optimism that Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), would reclaim his mandate at the court.
