Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions’ Godown Catches Fire, Props, Costumes Destroyed

A massive fire broke out in Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions godown at Cama Industrial Estate, Goregaon East on Tuesday. The fire was engulfed on all three floors of the building. However, no casualties were reported. According to a report in DNA, the blaze began at around 2.30 am on April 30. Around 12 fire engines were sent to the location to bring the fire under control.

Many Props, film memorabilia, books, and valuable artifact were stored there which included items dating back to the ’80s. Various reports suggest that props from its upcoming projects were also kept there. It is being said that the company’s estimated loss is huge.

“Investigation is underway to identify the source of the fire,” The Hindu quoted a senior police officer as saying. “We have disconnected their electric and water supply. Action will be taken if lapses are found,” chief fire officer PS Rahangdale added.

Though the exact figures of the loss is yet to be reported, the filmmaker and his core team are very upset about the loss of their guarded film property.

The company was started by Karan’s father, Yash Johar, in 1976.

Dharma Productions’ next big release in Student of The Year 2 which is slated to release on May 10. The film stars Tiger Shroff, debutants Tara Sutaria and Ananya Panday.
