Boeing names GC Luttig to new position of counselor, advisor to CEO Muilenburg, board of directors
Boeing Co. said Wednesday it has named General Counsel J. Michael Luttig to the newly created position of counselor and senior advisor to Chief Executive Dennis Muilenburg and the aerospace and defense giant's board of directors. Luttig will manage all legal matters associated with the Lion Air Flight 610 and Ethiopian Airlines Flight 302 deadly accidents. The accidents led to the groundings of Boeing-made 737 MAX aircraft. He is being succeeded as general counsel by Brett Gerry, has was previously president of Boeing Japan. "Judge Luttig is not only a brilliant legal mind, but also a critical voice on all the important issues and opportunities facing our company," Muilenburg said. Boeing's stock edged up 0.4% in morning trade. It has run up 17.6% year to date, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average has gained 14.2%.
