— Club Goes From Strength to Strength! —

The VHSC is excited to announce a complete restructuring to our 2019-2020 Academy staffing and structure. As you may know, Assistant Director Corey Smith is now on staff as the Assistant Men’s Coach at Birmingham Southern. Way to go Coach Corey! Our esteemed current Academy Director, Jeremy McLane, will be coaching older teams this fall, so that gives us an opportunity to restructure.

John Vincent has been named Boys Academy Director, while Amanda Burson has assumed the Girls’ Directorship.

Both are actively involved in the current Pele Academies, and having a separate director by gender will help all the participants. Most importantly, our new training schedule will allow the Directors more access to our two pools of players (Central and Liberty Park).

Coach John Vincent lives in Tuscaloosa where he is a full-time professor in the Department of Kinesiology and oversees the Sport  Management Graduate Program.  He is a former Collegiate Head Soccer Coach at the University of Southern Miss and a former Professional for Crystal Palace!

Central Academy players will train on Tuesdays and Thursdays at Central (or another Vestavia proper field). Liberty Park Academy players will train Mondays and Wednesdays at Liberty Park.

Our u11’s will have a third combined session, while our u9’s and u10’s will be able to get in a third (or fourth!) session, on an optional basis, with their cross-town counterparts.

We will hold Academy evaluations on May 20th and 21st for all 2011’s, 2010’s, and 2009’s at their respective parks, and you must sign up online for evaluations. Their team camp will run from 5-7 pm from August 5-8, and regular training will start on August 12th.
