Dozens Arrested in St Petersburg as Police Break Up Anti-Putin May-Day March

At least 60 people were arrested during an anti-government May Day march in St Petersburg, Russia, on May 1, local media reported. Local lawmaker Maxim Reznik tweeted photographs of police forcibly detaining him. According to Current Time, which shared this footage, supporters of opposition leader Aleksei Navalny were among an estimated 2,000 protesters at the march. Although the march was approved by authorities, police broke it up before it could begin, Current Time reported. More than 120 people were detained while participating in protests across Russia, the Moscow Times reported.
