Mike Ashley ranked the worst club owner in the Premier League
Mike Ashley has now been recognised for his ‘achievements’ at Newcastle United.
Only two games to go before we complete 12 seasons of his glorious rule.
So how does Mike Ashley measure up to the owners of the other 19 clubs in the 2018/19 Premier League.
A new report has ranked all 20 clubs in terms of owners.
Depending on which way you look at it, the NUFC owner is at the very top/bottom of the list.
Yes, Mike Ashley ranked the very worst owner in the English top tier.
Talksport explaining Mike Ashley bottom of the list:
‘Newcastle, once again, have retained a place in the Premier League but it’s mainly in spite of owner Ashley.
‘Ill feeling towards him has not lessened, even with the purse strings loosened to sign Miguel Almiron.
‘Most praise for top-flight survival goes to manager Rafa Benitez but there are still doubts as to whether the Spaniard will remain at St James’ Park if Ashley does not sell the club.
‘Amanda Staveley looked set to buy Newcastle but Ashley ended talks and a group involving Peter Kenyon has also been in talks, with no resulting action. Fans can’t wait to see the back of him.’
The best down to worst club owners in the Premier League as per Talksport:
1. Fosun International (Wolverhampton Wanderers)
2. John W. Henry (Liverpool)
3. Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan (Manchester City)
4. Gino Pozzo (Watford)
5. Mike Garlick and John Banaszkiewicz (Burnley)
6. ENIC International (Tottenham Hotspur)
7. Tony Bloom (Brighton and Hove Albion)
8. The Srivaddhanaprabha Family (Leicester City)
9. Roman Abramovich (Chelsea)
10. Dean Hoyle (Huddersfield Town)
11. Maxim Demin (Bournemouth)
12. Gao Jisheng (Southampton)
13. Steve Parish, Josh Harris and David Blitzer (Crystal Palace)
14. Vincent Tan (Cardiff City)
15. Shahid Khan (Fulham)
16. The Glazer family (Manchester United)
17. Farhad Moshiri (Everton)
18. David Sullivan and David Gold (West Ham United)
19. Stan Kroenke (Arsenal)
20. Mike Ashley (Newcastle United)
I think looking at the list overall, the big difference between Mike Ashley and others who are lowly ranked, is that elsewhere it as simply been down to bad decision making, on managerial appointments and/or signings that have been made.
Mike Ashley has made plenty of mistakes as well but there is nobody comes close to touching him, when you are talking about sowing zero ambition and sucking the life and soul out of a club.
Arsenal fans might claim Stan Kroenke is a contender to Mike Ashley but difficult to take that seriously when their club is in the semi-finals of the Europa League and two points off a Champions League qualifying spot, plus has a strikeforce that cost £100m+!
