Varun Dhawan And Sara Ali Khan Reveal First Look of Coolie No. 1, Film to Release on THIS Date

Actor Varun Dhawan who is all excited to bag the remake of Govinda and Karisma Kapoor starrer Coolie No. 1 has finally revealed the first look of the film. Not only this, but he has also confirmed that the film will hit the theatres on May 1, 2020, exactly one year from now. He has also confirmed that Sara Ali Khan will be playing the female lead role in David Dhawan’s directorial film.

The Kalank actor took to Instagram to share the glimpses of his character Coolie’s red uniform. The picture reads, “W. RLY. No. 1 Licensed Porter.” Sharing the post, he captioned it, “Aaj ka Din , Agle Saal  Aega Coolie No.1 – Hoga Kamaal !!! Coolie No.1 releases on May 1, 2020 #DavidDhawan @Saraalikhan95 #VashuBhagnani @pooja_ent #1YearForCoolieNo.1.” (sic)

Earlier, he spoke to Mid-Day about the film and said, “I have not seen such a wholesome entertainer in the last 15 years; so, I am doing it because I loved the screenplay. And being directed by dad is always great. The film is not a remake. It is an adaptation.”

The original Coolie No. 1 features Kader Khan, Karisma Kapoor and Shakti Kapoor among others. The film was released in the year 1995 and was successful at the Box Office. It was the remake of 1991 Tamil film Chinna Mapillai. Govinda’s character in the film is a coolie by profession who falls in love with a rich man’s daughter (Karisma Kapoor). The father of the girl (Kader Khan) wants to marry her to a man who’s even richer. Therefore, Govinda lies to the girl and her father that he belongs to a rich family and even owns a grand villa at a posh area in the city. They get married and that’s when the confusions and embarrassment begin.
