Spider-Man: Far From Home's New Trailer Will Arrive Soon

0

SPOILERS for Avengers: Endgame ahead.

-

Marvel Studios and Sony's new trailer for Spider-Man: Far From Home will arrive very soon. A direct sequel to Spider-Man: Homecoming, the film also marks the final entry in Phase 3 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. While last week's Avengers: Endgame essentially concluded the MCU's Infinity Saga (a story that began with the original Iron Man in 2008), Peter Parker's upcoming solo adventure is expected to function as an epilogue that bridges the gap between Phases 1-3 and the yet to be confirmed lineup of Phase 4 movies. It'll also reveal just how, exactly, Peter got back into the swing of things (pun sorta intended) after everything that went down with Thanos.

Avengers helmers Anthony and Joe Russo have finally confirmed that, yes, Far From Home takes place after Endgame and its five-year time skip. The idea is that some of Peter's classmates (like Ned and MJ) were "dusted" by Thanos along with Pete and, as a result, are still high schoolers after Bruce Banner/Hulk resurrects them and the rest of the Mad Titan's victims during Endgame. Others, however, are now in college and/or have moved on with their lives when Far From Home picks up - something the second trailer may or may not specifically touch upon.

Trailer-Track is reporting that Far From Home's next trailer has been rated and runs 2 minutes, 38 seconds long. The promo doesn't have a confirmed release date just yet, but is expected to drop online within the next week. It will almost certainly arrive before next Thursday, May 9, so it can play alongside Detective Pikachu in theaters.

Directed by Homecoming's Jon Watts, Far From Home will follow Peter and his friends as they take a summer vacation trip to Europe. The first trailer revealed that Pete is eager to take a break from being Spider-Man while he's overseas, which makes all the more sense coming after Endgame. This also explains why Happy Hogan keeps a closer eye on Peter (and Aunt May) in the sequel, following Tony Stark's sacrifice in the final battle against Thanos. Obviously, Marvel Studios wanted to keep all that under-wraps ahead of Endgame, to avoid spoiling the film as much as possible. They clearly held off on releasing Far From Home's new trailer last month for the same reason, much like they didn't unveil the first footage of Captain Marvel in Endgame until after Carol Danvers' solo movie had opened in theaters.

Far From Home will further deal with the fallout from Endgame by exploring Peter's struggle to re-embrace his superhero life again, after all the heartbreak and loss that he's gone through. It looks like this will serve as the basis for the character's arc in the film, so there's a good chance this next trailer will touch on that more explicitly than the earlier preview(s) did. Beyond that, the second trailer may dive deeper into the conflict involving Nick Fury, who recruits Peter (while he's still on his vacation) to help Jake Gyllenhaal's Mysterio battle a new threat known as The Elementals. As Pete's about to find out, a true superhero never really gets a break.
