Kanye West's "Yandhi" Session With YNW Melly & Chief Keef Sounds Crazy

0

Kanye West's Yandhi album was originally meant to drop in late 2018. In a surprise twist of fate, Yeezy appeared to undergo a change of heart, with a Kids See Ghosts live performance acting as the catalyst. "After performing again, I realize the new album I’ve been working on isn’t ready yet," he tweeted. "I’ll announce the release date once it’s done. Thank you for understanding." Though a dose of late-year Yeezy music would have been appreciated, it's certainly promising that Ye intends of meeting his own lofty standards. As such, Yandhi will likely drop later this year, featuring no shortage of confirmed guests.

Today, director DrewFilmedIt has shared footage of a studio session between Kanye and two of his prior collaborators, YNW Melly and Chief Keef. While Melly and Ye are relatively new partners, Keef helped hold it down on one of Yeezus' standout tracks "Hold My Liquor." As such, many are excited to see what the pair can cook up once again, divided though they may stand on Melly.

In any case, the studio session appears to have been a productive one, with Kanye marvelling at Melly's off-the-dome abilities, while Timbaland and Chief Keef vibe to the eerie, atmospheric banger. Eventually, Kanye picks up the mic for himself, and lays the foundation for a flow scheme. While he largely mumbles his way through, we can make up a truly Yeezy bar: "100k is my minimum wage." Overall, the first track sounds like it has a lot of potential, and we have to wonder whether it will ultimately surface whenever Yandhi comes around.
