No evidence exists to confirm India is using Afghan soil against Pakistan: U.S. official

A senior State Department official has said that no evidence exists to confirm India is using Afghan soil against Pakistan.

Alice Wells, Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs made the remarks during an interaction with a group of journalists at the U.S. Embassy in Islamabad, the Express Tribune reported.

Responding to a question regarding the alleged use of the Afghan soil by India against Pakistan, Wells said “I don’t have the evidence what you’re referring to, but our policy is clear that no country should support non-state actors.”

She also added that U.S. had no information regarding Pakistan Army’s latest allegations that Afghan and Indian secret agencies were funding the Pashtun Tahafuz Movement (PTM).

This comes as Pakistani officials have long been claiming that India is using the Afghan soil against Pakistan.

A spokesman for the Pakistani military on Monday claimed that Pashtun Tahafuz Movement was receiving funds from the Afghan Intelligence (National Directorate of Security) and Indian Research and Analysis Wing (RAW).
