A prosecutor was arrested in western Herat province of Afghanistan while he was attempting to obtain 100,000 Afghanis in bribe in central Logar province.

According to provincial security officials, the acting prosecutor of Mohammad Agha district of Logar province was arrested by intelligence operatives as he was attempting to obtain 100,000 Afghanis in bribe.

The officials are saying that the case of the detained individual has been referred to the relevant judicial authorities for further process.

This comes as efforts are underway to root out corruption, graft from the main governmental institutions across the country.
