Barr Waffles On Whether He’s Spoken To White House About Mueller Spin-Off Cases
Grilled about the dozen or so non-public cases that were spun off from special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation, Attorney General Bill Barr couldn’t say definitively Wednesday whether or not he discussed those cases with the White House.
“It’s possible a name of a case was mentioned,” Barr told Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) during a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing.
But pressed by Blumenthal, at first he could only say that he couldn’t “recall” whether he discussed the cases with the White House.
After more prodding, Barr said that he could “say very surely” that he did not discuss the substance of those cases with the White House.
Barr also denied that he had interfered in any of those probes, and he refused to commit to recusing himself from any of those investigations.
