Terrified dementia patient ‘frantically pushed help button as carer sexually assaulted her’
A terrified dementia sufferer frantically pushed a help button in a bid to stop one of her carers sexually assaulting her, a lawsuit claims.
The 65 year-old, who has not been named, claims she was attacked by Norman Eugene Lee at the Willowbrook Residence and Rehabilitation Center in Houston, Texas, in March 2018.
She was put to bed by other workers at the facility that afternoon, with workers leaving the door of her room open.
Around two hours later, staff realized that the door had been closed, and the patient was using her service button to seek assistance.
A nurse went to check on her, and was stunned to discover Levy in the room with the woman, sexually assaulting her, it is claimed.
Afterwards, staff were told to clean up the mess caused by the attack, it is claimed, and did not call police until five hours later.
The victim was taken to hospital for treatment.
Boy, 17, detained indefinitely after killing lecturer with electric drill and hammerHer lawsuit, seen by Click2Houston, complains about the failure to properly report the alleged attack on the woman.
It also alleges staff at Willowbrook ‘failed to monitor Lee’s behaviors when he was receiving’ anti-psychotic medication.
The woman’s suit is seeking $200,000 to $1million damages.
Lee has been charged with aggravated sexual assault of an elderly and disabled female. He is due to stand trial in July.
Attorneys acting for Willowbrook filed responses to the woman’s claims, insisting she was responsible for what happened to her, and denying any wrongdoing.
