Michael Gandolfini's Young Tony Soprano: New Pictures Surface
As one of the greatest television characters of all time, James Gandolfini's Tony Soprano is considered sacred ground, a stalwart presence in the TV hall of fame. When it was announced that the upcoming Sopranos prequel film would include a young Tony Soprano, many approached the news with caution. On one hand, David Chase is personally overseeing The Many Saints of Newark, which bodes well for purists seeking adherence to stylistic continuity. On the other hand, a character like Tony Soprano is so beloved, it's always risky to re-approach the foundation set by the late Gandolfini.
Enter his son, Michael Gandolfini, who has since stepped in to pick up where his father left off. At the time, Michael revealed the importance of the role, stating "it’s a profound honor to continue my dad’s legacy while stepping into the shoes of a young Tony Soprano.” Now, The Blast has revealed a new look at Michael's interpretation of Young Tony, which finds the aspiring mobster rocking long hair and bell-bottom jeans. All things considered, it should be interesting to see Gandolfini's approach to his father's character, and it's likely his scenes will be Newark standouts.
