Authorities seize illegal firearms in search of Belmont home
BELMONT — A cache of firearms, some of them illegal to own in California, were seized during a search of a home in Belmont early Thursday morning, authorities said.
About 5:30 a.m., Department of Homeland Security agents and Belmont police officers served a search warrant at a residence in the 300 block of Chesterton Avenue, according to a Belmont police Capt. Patrick Halleran.
Halleran said the search was part of an investigation into illegal weapons.
Authorities seized several illegal assault rifles as well as firearms parts, according to Halleran.
Dylan Zugas, 27, a resident of the home, was arrested without incident and booked into San Mateo County Jail on multiple charges including possession of illegal firearms and manufacture of illegal weapons.
