Today’s free horse racing tips: Ascot, Lingfield and Haydock live on ITV – Steve Mullen’s betting preview for Saturday, May 11
RIPP ORF can run another massive race in Ascot’s Victoria Cup (4.00).
Hayley Turner’s mount has a fantastic record over this course and distance with two wins and two places from his four attempts.
Considering they were all in top-class handicaps with huge fields, that is some achievement.
One of his best efforts came when winning this race 12 months ago when he came with his usual strong run to nail his rivals right on the line.
There’s a chance he’ll get stuck in traffic but it’s risk worth taking given how well he goes at the Queen’s track.
Kimifive loved stepping up to this distance when winning at Goodwood last weekend and can go close again.
AIM HIGH Don’t miss Sun Racing’s race by race preview of a cracking card at Ascot
This is a tougher contest but he looks open to plenty of improvement as a four-year-old.
Cape Byron didn’t get his just desserts last season when running crackers in a couple of these big handicaps without getting his head in front.
He ran well here a couple of times and trainer Roger Varian has his horses running well.
Looking for one at a huge price, Qaysar has shown his best form over this distance and needed his comeback at Nottingham last time.
LATEST IN HORSE RACING
BELLA looks good in Ascot’s 3.25.
BELLA REGAZZA is a filly to follow this season after she improved a bundle last year.
She landed a couple of decent handicap wins at Goodwood and Newmarket and this mile trip is right up her street.
The handicapper has given her a handy mark to start the new campaign and there should be more to come.
Red Starlight held her own in Listed company last season including when second here over 7f in October.
She has shown decent signs on a couple of runs this season although she didn’t completely fire at Newbury last time.
KING POWER can rule in the Lingfield Oaks Trial (1.55).
The daughter of Frankel cost a fortune as a yearling and has been brought along very quietly by trainer Andrew Balding.
She stepped up to 1m2f to run a good second at Sandown last time coming back from six months off. She travelled strongly and was bumped at a vital stage before settling for second behind a decent John Gosden filly.
You would expect plenty of improvement on just her third outing and she can put herself in the Oaks picture with a good run.
Frankie Dettori has chasen Anapurna of the Gosden pair in the contest and she couldn’t have won any easier on the all-weather here last time.
This is a big hike in class from that but there should be major improvement to come.
