Man Utd legend Sir Alex Ferguson looks in top form at races following health scare last year

SIR ALEX FERGUSON was beaming while watching horse races at the Boodles May Festival in Chester today.

The Manchester United legend has made frequent public appearances following his surgery on a brain haemorrhage last May.

Ferguson, 77, turned up at the three-day annual race meeting despite wet and windy weather conditions in Cheshire.

The legendary coach looked in top form, possibly hoping to cash in on bets he had made.

He is a long-term enthusiast of the Boodles May Festival and even used to own a horse, Butterfly McQuen, running at the Chester racecourse.

Ferguson has seemingly left the horror health scare of last year behind him.

The Scot had to undergo an emergency brain operation after suffering from a seizure at his home in Wilmslow.

He was in “extremely serious” condition and spent four days in intensive care.

But the United hero has recovered remarkably quickly – and showed gratitude for the treatment he received by raising £405,000 for the NHS.

Ferguson was initially banned from attending Red Devils games as doctors were concerned over his health.

But he returned to Old Trafford in September and is now a frequent presence at the club’s matches.

The former coach currently plays a consulting role at United and helped to broker Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s appointment following the sacking of Jose Mourinho.
