Rafa Benitez offered £15m to stay at Newcastle in mega one-year deal
NEWCASTLE owner Mike Ashley is ready to offer Rafa Benitez a deal worth up to £15million — but only for ONE YEAR.
Ashley wants to keep the Spaniard as boss and offer him the staggering sum that includes a huge basic of around £240,000-a-week plus a survival bonus.
However, the Toon Army supremo is pushing for a short-term contract only.
Ashley fears putting Benitez, 59, on a lengthy and lucrative deal would add to the cost for anyone buying Newcastle.
He is considering the monster contract to avoid having to replace the popular boss this summer then being forced to offer a long-term one to land a top replacement.

Newcastle already pay Benitez a massive salary and bonuses, with insiders revealing he will earn close to £9m this season after keeping the club up.
But a further pay hike and increase in incentives would make him one of the best-paid bosses in the Premier League.
Benitez has been looking at options, but has ruled out a switch to China.
