Geri Halliwell shuns iconic Union Jack dress as ‘she doesn’t want her boobs out’

GERI Horner is refusing to dress like the brash 90s Ginger Spice — and is threatening to ditch her famous Union Jack dress.

The 45-year-old has shunned her old look for the Spice Girls’ new tour, and instead wants to wear more “age- appropriate costumes”.

The rest of the group are happy to embrace their old fashions — with Emma Bunton wearing pink, Mel B going for leopard-print and Melanie Chisholm in gym gear.

But mum-of-two Geri — who wed F1 tycoon Christian Horner in 2015 — is insisting on a “middle-class housewife” look beloved by fans of online retailer Boden.

The band have chosen acclaimed theatrical designer Gabriella Slade, the woman behind West End musical Six, to do their outfits, the Sun on Sunday can reveal.

News of the latest spat comes less than two weeks before the opening show in Dublin.

Last night a source said: “All the girls have fully embraced this zeitgeist reunion, even if it means wearing clothes they wouldn’t ­necessarily pluck from their own wardrobes.

But Geri is a married woman, with kids of her own, and isn’t so keen to revert back to the Ginger Spice of old.

“Understandably she wants to look more age-appropriate.

“She doesn’t want to be prancing around the stage in a sequinned Union Flag minidress with her boobs out and wearing leather knee-high boots.

However Geri is still fully embracing the ‘zeitgeist reunion’[/caption]

“Fans have been taking the mick out of her sedate, lady-of-the-manor look while even the girls have made a couple of jokey remarks about her posh new Boden housewife aesthetic.”

Since her marriage, Geri has dramatically overhauled her image, and regularly spends time at the family’s country estate.

However fans may still get to see a more sophisticated adaptation of Ginger’s old Union Jack outfit.

The source went on: “Gabriella has done a brilliant job on the costume front, and she and Geri have provisionally agreed on a more refined yet theatrical version of that dress.”

It comes as accounts show Geri’s company Wonderful Productions Ltd made just £3,353 last year.
