Paul Merson gives his prediction for Liverpool FC v Wolves
Paul Merson is backing Liverpool FC to claim a 2-1 win over Wolves in the Premier League at Anfield on Sunday.
The Reds head into the game looking to try and win their first Premier League title and catch Manchester City on the final day of the season.
Liverpool FC are currently in second place in the table and just a point behind Manchester City as they look to try and capitalise on any slip-ups from Pep Guardiola’s side, who travel to Brighton on the final day.
The Merseyside outfit head into the final round of fixtures on a high after having secured their place in the Champions League final for the second season running thanks to their stunning 4-0 win over FC Barcelona at Anfield on Tuesday night.
Former Arsenal star Merson is tipping Liverpool FC to get their own job done by beating Wolves in front of their home fans on Sunday.
Writing in his column for Sky Sports, Merson said: “If Man City go ahead early, Liverpool have got to just get this game out of their memory, get it out of the way.
“They might need to get in front early doors, but if Man City go 2-0 up, they’ve got to start thinking about the game in three weeks in my opinion.
“Wolves will be dangerous, but there’s no place like Liverpool. It’ll be a hard game for them, though.”
Liverpool FC will take on Tottenham Hotspur in the Champions League final in Madrid on 1 June.
The Reds are aiming to go one step further than last season, when they were beaten by Real Madrid in the Champions League final in Kiev.
