Lok Sabha Election Phase 6: Google Shares Voting Tips For UP, Haryana, Delhi, Bihar, MP, West Bengal on India Elections 2019 With a Doodle

Google on Sunday, May 12, marked the beginning of Lok Sabha Elections Phase 6 with a doodle that featured an inked finger, which when clicked leads users to a page explaining the voting procedure. The 2019 Indian general election, also known as Lok Sabha Elections kicked off on April 11 and will end on May 19. Votings will be held in seven phases across the country. The stage is set for the sixth phase of Lok Sabha Elections 2019 today in 59 constituencies across 6 states, 1 Union Territory.  Elections will be held in 14 seats in Uttar Pradesh, 10 seats in Haryana, eights constituencies each in Bihar, Madhya Pradesh and West Bengal, seven seats in Delhi and four in Jharkhand.

Over 10.17 crore voters will decide the fate of 979 candidates including several Union ministers namely Radha Mohan Singh, Harshvardhan and Maneka Gandhi, Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur, an accused in the 2008 Malegaon bomb blast case, SP chief Akhilesh Yadav and Congress leaders Digvijay Singh and Jyotiraditya Scindia.

In the national capital, voting will be held in all seven seats — Chandni Chowk, North East Delhi, East Delhi, New Delhi, North West Delhi, West Delhi, South Delhi.

When you click on the doodle, Google gives a piece of information on the voting process at a polling booth.

How to Vote:

You can vote only if your name appears in the Voter List (also known as Electoral Roll). Voters can also find information on Polling Booths, Contesting candidates, Election Dates & Timings, Identity cards and EVM.

 

Voting Process at Polling Booth

-First polling official will check your name on the voter list and check your ID proof

-Second polling official will ink your finger, give you a slip and take your signature on a register (Form 17A)

-You will have to deposit the slip at the third polling official and show your inked finger and then proceed to the polling booth

-Record your vote by pressing the ballot button opposite the symbol of the candidate of your choice on the Electronic Voting Machine (EVM); You will hear a beep sound

-Check the slip that appears in the transparent window of the VVPAT machine. The slip with the Candidate serial No., Name and Symbol shall be visible for 7 seconds before it drops in the sealed VVPAT box

-You can press NOTA, None of the Above, if you don’t like any candidate; it’s the last button on the EVM

-Mobile phones, cameras or any other gadget is not allowed inside a polling booth.

 

The Lok Sabha Elections are being held in seven-phases for 543 seats and the counting of votes will be on May 23, 2019.
