Driver dies after van plunges 60ft off cliff in Brighton onto walkway below
A DRIVER has died this morning after a van plunged 60ft off a cliff in Brighton onto a pathway below.
Cops, fire crews and paramedics raced to the spot off the A259 between Brighton Marina and Roedean School at 6.30am.
Shocking images show the silver van on its side with police officers gathered around the vehicle.
It has been reported the driver of the van was a man – but it is not known how old he was.
A Sussex Police spokesman said: “On Sunday, May 12, around 6.30am, police were called to a report that a silver Vauxhall van had gone off the cliff east of the Marina, close to Rosedean School.
“Police, ambulance and fire brigade attended the scene, despite their best efforts the driver died a short time after.
“Next of kin have been informed.”
He added the death is not currently thought to be suspicious, but officers are still in the early stages of the investigation.
Part of the cliff walkway will be closed until investigations are carried out in the area by police.
