Charlotte suspended, Barons lose it in Tennessee, Dash postponed, and Intimidators bats are on fire

Dylan Cease allowed two earned runs and had three strikeouts in a short outing, needing 80 pitches to get 11 outs, and getting knocked out of the box after 3 ²⁄₃ innings. Danny Mendick came through for the Knights, with a two-run bomb in the second and going 2-for-2 overall, with, two RBI, and two walks! Wish the rain would have held up so the Knights Boys could’ve got their win tonight. Back at it tomorrow, to resume the ballgame at noon.

Barons had no offense tonight, other than Laz Rivera going 3-for-4 and Gavin Sheets’s homer in the top of the fourth to score Birmingham’s only run. Starter Jimmy Lambert unfortunately collected four earned runs in his outing: a sac fly in the second, RBI single in the third, RBI triple in the fourth, and another sac fly in the fifth.

Zack Burdi replaced Lambert and started off the the bottom of the sixth allowing no runs and two strikeouts in his short appearance on the mound. Alec Hansen allowed a run in the bottom of the eighth on a wild pitch. Birmingham is having a rough season so far. The team has a lot of talented power hitters, but you wouldn’t know it from the first 35 games.

Don’t mess with this Intimidators team on the road! Starter Davis Martin had four walks allowed seven runs during his six innings, but they were all unearned — so it’s extra infield practice for second sacker Ramon Beltre before the game on Sunday!

And through all that, Kannapolis not only won the game — but Martin earned the win!

It was all about the I’s offense. Shortstop Lenyn Sosa got the party started early in the first, with an RBI double to score Ian Dawkins. Mr. Dawkins, who I believe to be a sleeper to keep an eye on, had another stellar night at the plate, going 3-for-5.

Also in the first inning, Alex Destino clocked his first homer of the season, a two-run shot to right-center field). Kannapolis allowed a two-run single and a three-run bomb in the bottom of the third, putting the Power in the driver’s seat for the win, all unearned due to Beltre. An inning later, another Beltre error led to the later plating of two more runs.

It takes more than a 7-3 deficit midway through the game to scare the Intimidators, though. They came back to score seven more runs, featuring lots of scoring in the fifth, and a Bryce Bush homer in the seventh that got them the victory! Pitcher Bennett Sousa pulled the plug on the Power in the ninth to get the save for K-Town. It was another fun win for 15-18 Kannapolis.
