TV picks for Sunday, May 12

WATCH THIS:

“American Idol” (8 p.m., ABC): The journey to discover the next pop star continues as the remaining five “Idol” hopefuls each perform three songs: a pick from in-house mentor, Bobby Bones; a song dedicated to their heroes in honor of Mother’s Day; and a selection from Elton John’s catalog. To help prepare for this week’s theme, contestants will be the first to watch the upcoming feature film “Rocketman,” about Elton John’s breakthrough years.

“Our Cartoon President” (8 p.m., Showtime): In Season 2 of the animated series, the cartoon version of Donald Trump has a pretty full to-do list. Among his objectives: Convince the American people to pay for Trump Tower-Moscow, provie that he’s mentally fit enough to possess the nuclear codes and solve climate change to stop his sweating problem.

“Game of Thrones” (9 p.m., HBO): The end is nigh. Only two episodes remain in the epic fantasy and an angry/anguished Daenerys figures to be out for blood after watching Cersei ruthlessly execute Missandei, her longtime trusted adviser. Now what? A major battle at King’s Landing apparently looms, but will the Mother of Dragons and her depleted troops be able to put up much of a fight? They’ll undoubtedly have to contend with Golden Company captain Ser Harry Strickland and his fresh troops.

“Les Miserables on Masterpiece” (9 p.m., PBS): In Episode 5, as revolution sweeps Paris, Valjean and Cosette hide out, Marius searches for Cosette, Thénardier disappears and Javert obsessively tracks Valjean.

“NCIS: Los Angeles” (10 p.m., CBS): Callen and Sam travel to the USS Allegiance in the Persian Gulf to work with Navy Captain Harmon “Harm” Rabb, Jr. (David James Elliott) when the NCIS team uncovers ISIS sympathizers who are targeting military locations.

“Good Girls” (10 p.m., NBC): Rio (Manny Montana) uses a series of unnerving tactics to remind Beth (Christina Hendricks) that it’s not as easy to walk away from his criminal enterprise as she’d like it to be. Meanwhile, Annie (Mae Whitman) learns something new about Noah and Ruby (Retta) makes a reckless decision to save Stan (Reno Wilson).

“Veep” (10:50 p.m., HBO): Unfortunately, it’s time to bid farewell the award-winning political satire, the potty-mouthed Selina Meyer and her incompetent minions. In the series finale, the nominating fight between Selina (Julia Louis-Dreyfus) and her rivals reaches its climax, as their race comes to a historic finish.
