A40 plane crash – light aircraft smashes into dual carriageway in Wales in front of drivers
A LIGHT aircraft has smashed into a dual carriageway in Wales in front of horrified drivers today.
A plume of smoke was spotted rising near the A40 this morning.
A witness wrote on social media: “Plane has crashed on the A40 south of Abergavenny. There is a private landing strip nearby”.
Another added: “Avoid the road to Raglan: plane crashed on dual carriageway”.
It is unclear if anyone was injured.
Gwent Police said: “Emergency Services are dealing with a Police Incident on the A40 between Raglan and Abergavenny.
“The road is closed in both directions and diversions are in place which may cause congestion.
“Please avoid the area if possible and find alternative routes for your journey.”
