4H Monza: Pre-Race Notes
Update on Roussel
DSC has been updated on the condition of Inter Europol driver Leo Roussel, who is still in hospital receiving treatment following his off during Free Practice 2 yesterday at Parabolica.
After a further scan, Leo will need a surgical procedure but is expected to make a full and rapid recovery.
DSC wishes him well in his recovery.
IDEC has qualifying times deleted
The #28 IDEC Sport ORECA 07 Gibson shared by Paul Lafargue, Paul-Loup Chatin and Memo Rojas will not start from third in today’s race, but from 19th on the grid (last in LMP2, behind the team’s sister car).
This follows a technical inspection that occurred after the qualifying session. The ORECA was found to be in breach of the LMP2 technical regulations, as the external neutral switch was malfunctioning.
Eurointernational and 360 Racing to start from the back
The #11 Eurointernational Ligier JSP3 Nissan and the #5 360 Racing Ligier JSP3 did not qualify on Saturday. Both cars were being repaired during that session as a result of an accident during FP2 for the #11 and a broken bell-housing for the #5.
Both cars will take the start of the race from the very back of the grid in 40th (for the #11) and 41st position (for the #5).
Speed trap
The Autodromo Nazionale Monza is famous for its long straights and high speeds nature. During the qualifying session, Nicolas Jamin in the #30 Duqueine Engineering ORECA reached maximum speed of 311.2 Km/h (193.4 MPH).
Anders Fjordbach in the #20 High Class Racing ORECA 07 Gibson, Norman Nato in the #26 G-Drive Racing Aurus 01 Gibson and Nicolas Lapierre in the #37 Cool Racing 07 Gibson had reached 193mph during the first free-practice session held on Friday.
Ehrlacher misses Monza
Yann Ehrlacher is not in Monza this weekend. His car, the #19 M Racing Norma M30, will be raced this Sunday by two drivers only: Frenchman Laurent Millara and Swiss driver Lucas Legeret. Instead, Ehrlacher is competing in Slovakia with team Cyan Performance Lynk & Co in the FIA World Touring Car Cup.
Noble now a BRDC member
Nielsen Racing driver Colin Noble has become a full member of the BRDC (British Racing Drivers’ Club).
After racing as a BRDC Rising Star for just over a year, 22-year-old Colin Noble was selected to become a full member prior to the trip to Monza.
“It’s an honour to become a full member of the BRDC after being part of its Rising Stars programme since January last year,” said Noble.
“The BRDC is such a prestigious organisation which over the years has done so much for British talent in the sport. To be recognised and selected to be part of that group is a real milestone in my career.
“I look forward to representing the BRDC going forward at European Le Mans Series and Michelin Le Mans Cup races this season.”
