THE Durrells is drawing to an emotional close as the family’s time on Corfu comes to an inevitable end.
But when can you watch the last ever episode of ITV’s hit show and what will happen? Here’s the lowdown.
When is the final episode The Durrells on TV?
The last ever episode of The Durrells will air TONIGHT (May 12, 2019) at 8pm on ITV.
The show has run for four series but unfortunately this is its FINAL series.
You can watch episode one to five of season four now on the ITV Hub and view seasons one and three on Netflix.
Why is The Durrells ending?
The show is coming to an end, because in real-life this is when the family returned back to England to face World War II – making their Corfu story over.
When asked if this really is the last of the Durrell family on TV, actress Keeley Hawes, who plays the matriarch of the family Louisa Durrell, seemed reluctant to say goodbye.
Speaking to What’s On TV she said: “Well it’s not like they left Corfu and were really boring in front of the telly, they all went on to have even more interesting lives.
“I know we’d all be up for something like a spin-off and I think people who love the show would be keen too… I go to work on other shows now and I think, “Where’s all the fun stuff?’ I miss the animals!'”
What will happen in the last ever episode of The Durrells?

Get your tissues ready because it’s going to be a weepy episode as the family leave their beloved home in Corfu in the wake of World War II breaking out.
Louisa resists the mounting pressures to take her family home to England, until Theo urges them to get the last boat home before the borders close.
Larry and Margo’s return marks a ray of sunshine for Louisa and they agree to put on a farewell play, involving friends and loved ones in the process.
Larry is the writer and director, but in his new role as a spy, he keeps on disappearing.
Feeling guilty, Leslie tracks down a forlorn Spiros who is living in his car. Apologising profusely, Leslie encourages him to return to the villa.
Meanwhile, Margo delves into the world of virginity claiming she will lose hers to Nikos. However, Nikos becomes unnerved, aware that everyone knows of their intentions.

Who is in the cast of The Durrells series four?
The last ever series saw all of the viewers’ favourite characters returning:
- Bodyguard actress Keeley Hawes plays the head of the family, Louisa Durrell. Don’t worry, she won’t be off the box for long as she is set to appear in new drama Year of the Rabbit and also BBC show Summer of Rockets – which kicks off on May 22, 2019.
- Milo Parker, who plays her son Gerry is famed for being in films like Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children and Mr. Holmes. Although his plans for his next acting job are yet to be announced, he could head back to the big screen.
- Josh O’Connor who plays Larry has seen his star soar in recent years. Next you’ll be able to see him in The Crown playing Prince Charles.
- Daisy Waterstone plays the hilarious Margo, a part that has won her legions of fans. Daisy has hinted she would like a spin-off show to The Durrells based on the real-life Margo Durrell’s fascinating memoir.
- Callum Woodhouse who plays the gun-toting Leslie is also getting booked up on TV, and you can see him on Cold Feet.
