Boy, 15, and man, 35, shot ‘with silenced pistol’ in broad daylight gun attack in Birmingham

0

A BOY and a 35-year-old man were shot with a “silenced pistol” in broad daylight yesterday.

The teen, 15, and adult were attacked in a Birmingham street at around 4.30pm – with the shooter still on the run.

The shooting happened on Warwick Road, Olney, in Solihull

It is thought the pair were deliberately targeted before the gunman fled the scene in a car.

Dashcam footage from a stunned driver’s car saw the alleged shooter running across a busy street.

He appears to be holding a gun in his hand as he speeds through the traffic in Warwick Road, Solihull.

The witness told the MailOnline: “It is 100 per cent a gun, if you look on the right hand side after a few seconds you can see him aim the gun, it had a silencer on it. Definitely a gun.

“There was a silencer on the gun so we didn’t hear it but we saw shots being fired.

“We were afraid we were going to get shot if we drove past the shooter and into his line of fire as he seemed to miss a few shots.”

They added an air ambulance and armed police raced to the scene soon after the shooting.

A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: “Police are investigating after a man, aged 35, and a 15-year-old boy were shot at on Warwick Road in Olton, Solihull, around 4.30pm yesterday (11 May).

“The attack is thought to be deliberately targeted and both victims were taken to hospital for treatment to leg injuries, which are described as not life threatening or life changing.

“The offender made off in a vehicle and police are calling for witnesses to contact them via Live Chat at west-midlands.police.uk between 8am and midnight, call 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 quoting log number 1702 of 11/5.”

Last week a man was killed and two others, including a teenager, were injured in a triple shooting in Birmingham.

In 2018, the number of murders in the UK increased by 14 per cent from 649 in 2017 to 739.

Knife crime is up at eight per cent and violent crimes up by 19 per cent.
