For instance, players need to have made a minimum of five appearances for their respective teams to earn one.

Be that as it may, the Premier League board can still award additional medals to players who have made fewer than five games.

However, this can only be done at the board's discretion and is often reserved for back-up goalkeepers and injured players.

Owing to these rules, there are players both in the City and Liverpool camp who could miss out on the medal when either side lifts the title.

Below are the players who will not be getting Premier League medals should their teams win the title this afternoon.

Liverpool

For the Reds, the most notable names include Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Alberto Moreno.

Oxlade-Chamberlain has made just one substitute appearance since his return from a horrific knee injury.

Moreno, on his part has has played second fiddle to Andy Robertson twice this season, with the last of those coming against Burnley in December last year.

Simon Mignolet joins the long list of players who will not qualify for one as Alisson has been ever-present between the sticks.

Man City

Unlike Jurgen Klopp, Pep Guardiola has made an attempt of rotating his squad often, a move that has seen him use 21 players in the league this season and all have made more than five appearances.

Only goalkeepers Claudio Bravo and Arijanet Muric have not made up numbers of games.

Danilo is the other player to have made the fewest appearances in the league with ten.
