Paper Talk: Pogba implications as Man Utd meet £40m price for Everton ace

0

Manchester United are set to pay the £40m needed to sign Idrissa Gueye, while there could be tears of despair and joy in the Steel City if Sheffield United land a Sheffield Wednesday favourite, according to Sunday’s newspapers.

IDRISSA GUEYE TO LEAVE EVERTON; MAN UTD KEEN

Manchester United have informed Everton they will meet the £40m asking price for midfielder Idrissa Gueye.

The Mail on Sunday claims the Senegal battler will play his final match for the Merseysiders on Sunday, with the club ready to cash in on the 29-year-old for £40million.

The paper claims both United and PSG are in the running for the former Aston Villa midfielder, but that United are favourites with a route into the first team far clearer at Old Trafford than it would be at the Ligue 1 giants, who are expected to soon announce the capture of Ander Herrera.

And according to the Mail, United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants to replicate the success Paul Pogba had with N’Golo Kante with France by signing Gueye to play a similar role for United and thus allowing their record signing to find his consistent best form.

Gueye regularly tops the charts for tackles per game and Solskjaer wants United to meet the £40m fee on his head as he thinks the signing will be key to unlocking Pogba’s true ability.

It does seem strange that Everton would cash in on one of their star names, but, having stopped him signing for PSG last summer, perhaps there is an agreement that exists between the clubs allowing him to move on this time around.
