Trent Alexander-Arnold: We’ve Shown the World Class Nature of Our Team

Trent Alexander-Arnold has never played a season of first team football in which he didn’t reach the Champions League final. You have to think it’ll happen eventually, but hopefully not for a while yet.
As it is, he’s got the taste for it. And boy is he enjoying it.
“Silverware defines where you stand in terms of rankings. So the main thing for us is to go to the final and go one step further than last year and win it,” The Mirror report the right back as saying.
“It shows the signs of progression – reaching the last day of the season still being in the title race and reaching the Champions League final.
“It shows we’re able to compete on both fronts and take it to the very end. It’s a massive statement to show we’re doing these things.
“I’m sure people have respect for us already but beating Barcelona the way we did has taken us to the next level. We’ve beaten one of, if not the best, teams in the world 4-0 when the odds were against us.
“We’ve shown the world-class nature of our team. And if it was down to character alone we would probably be the best in the world.
“We’ve been underdogs in many games but we’re showing that we are brave and a team to be feared and that’s the main thing.
“It’s important to be back among the best in Europe and that’s what we’re trying to achieve – to create a team that is feared throughout world football. We’re not too far away from doing that.
“Reaching the final won’t soften the blow, it will still hurt massively. We put so much into the Premier League this season.”
“It’s just an extraordinary season. We won’t look back and have regrets because we’ve lost once this season – at City – and the draws that we picked up were mostly away games.
“In previous years you can afford to pick those up and still have a chance because you’re glad if you’re going to Everton and Man United and picking up a point.
“But it just shows the nature of the Premier League now.”
