Report: Champions League hero set to depart Tottenham this summer

Fernando Llorente has played a pivotal part in Tottenham Hotspur’s progression to the Champions League final.

The Spaniard has helped to fill the void of Harry Kane on the European stage and has come up with important goals at crucial times.

Llorente was on target in Tottenham’s Round of 16 tie against Borussia Dortmund and also scored the controversial winner at Manchester City in the quarter final which was given after a VAR review.

When Spurs found themselves 3-0 down on aggregate against Ajax on Tuesday night, Mauricio Pochettino brought on the 34-year-old and his impact helped to change the course of the game.

Spurs played a more direct style with Llorente acting as a target man with his deft touches bringing in the likes of Lucas Moura and Dele Alli; with the plan working well after Lucas Moura’s dramatic hat-trick.

The Sun are reporting that Llorente, who is out of contract at the end of the season is likely to be allowed to depart North London with the club instead looking for a younger frontman who can help support Kane.

Llorente certainly hasn’t had the easiest time at Tottenham following his move from Swansea City but has come up with the goods when needed.
