May heat shrinks Washington snowpack, raising risk for tight water flows for fish and farmers

For Seattle-area residents who endured a snow-laden February, it may seem odd to be talking about drought. But officials are preparing, especially in other parts of the state, for increased risk of wildfires, reduced irrigation flows to farmers and tougher conditions for salmon survival.
