Supervisor Karen Mitchoff never mentioned officials had heard the cry of thousands
Re: “Pleasant Hill Library closure postponed as new project awaits approval” (Eastbaytimes.com, May 7):
It was great to see coverage of the postponement of the Pleasant Hill Library closure, but I found it interesting that none of the reasons stated by Supervisor Karen Mitchoff for the postponement were that elected officials had heard the cry of thousands of voices via petition and email about the importance of the library in our community.
A lot of attention has been given to the fact that money could be made off the land, but what is the price of children being able to read?
What is the price of toddlers, children and teenagers given access to books? What is the price of adults being able to meet together for a book club? What is the price of seniors gathering and given access to computers and connection with the community? Surely, surely that does not have a price tag on it.
