Rangers fans branded ‘disgrace’ for sick chant about Celtic’s Lisbon Lions by Tam McManus
RANGERS fans have been blasted for singing a sick chant about the Lisbon Lions.
Steven Gerrard’s side beat rivals Celtic 2-0 at Ibrox to record their second derby win of the season.
But thousands of supporters were heard singing “the Lisbon Lions won’t see ten in a row” late in the second half.
It comes just a matter of weeks following the deaths of Billy McNeill and Stevie Chalmers – members of Celtic’s 1967 European Cup-winning team.
And pundit Tam McManus branded the vile lyrics an “absolute f*****g disgrace”.
He tweeted: “Rangers thoroughly deserve to win this game been miles better than Celtic. MILES.
“The Rangers fans singing about the Lisbon Lions though after the last week or two is an absolute f*****g disgrace though. Total lack of class.”
Celtic fans also hit out at the sickening song – which was clearly heard during Sky Sports’ coverage of the derby – on Twitter.
One said: “Winning a Glasgow derby and they sing about Lisbon lions. Shock horror let themselves down again.”
@greenandwhite added: “They go 2 up and the whole of Ibrox sings, “Lisbon Lions won’t see 10 in a row.” Scum of the earth.”
A third wrote: “Singing about dying Lisbon lions. Unsurpassed dignity from the peepul”.
