F1 Drivers’ and Constructors’ Standings: Hamilton takes the lead from Bottas as Mercedes claim fifth one-two
LEWIS HAMILTON is back in his Mercedes car, looking to move to within one of Michael Schumacher’s record of F1 World Championship titles.
The Brit has been crowned five times to date, sitting level with Argentina legend Juan Manuel Fangio – while his German team are eyeing sixth constructors title in a row.
Who is leading the Drivers’ Standings?
Valtteri Bottas led from the front in a magnificent opening race in Australia to claim victory and the first-ever bonus point for fastest lap.
The Finn held onto his lead, despite Lewis Hamilton winning in Bahrain – but the Brit ultimately overtook his partner-in-crime with a second victory of the season in China.
However after his win in Azerbaijan, he has regained the top spot from the Brit with just one point separating them, before Hamilton returned to the top with his stunning drive in Spain.
Charls Leclerc is enjoying a good start to his Ferrari career, despite problems in Sakhir – while 19-year-old Lando Norris is easily the best rookie on the circuit with eight points already to his name.
