Danny Baker to appear on stage tonight as he refuses to cancel tour in wake of ‘racist’ Meghan Markle pic row
EMBATTLED Danny Baker will go on stage tonight after refusing to cancel his UK tour in the wake of his “racist” tweet scandal.
The sacked BBC radio host, whose social media blunder is now being probed by police, is due to perform his Good Time Charlie’s Back show at Theatre Royal at 7:30pm.
The venue, which can seat an audience of nearly 1,200, confirmed the show will go on when approached by The Sun Online.
On the theatre’s website, fans are told the tour “will be almost certainly your last chance” to see him take to the stage.
The fate of Baker’s tour seemed uncertain amid public outrage after he tweeted a picture of a couple with a chimpanzee upon hearing the news Meghan Markle had given birth.
He captioned the image: “Royal baby leaves hospital”.
Yesterday, it emerged police are investigating the tweet, which many slammed as “racist”.
THE SHOW WILL GO ON
The post resulted in the 61-year-old veteran presenter being sacked by the BBC.
He has since issued numerous apologies for the post, which he branded a “catastrophic mistake”.
Among a series of tweets he admitted: “I f***ed up badly.
“The picture in context as presented was obviously shamefully racist.
“It was never intended so – seriously who on earth would ‘go there’?”

He claimed the tweet was originally intended to “lampoon privilege & the news cycle”.
A Metropolitan police spokesman confirmed they were investigating the post.
They said: “An allegation has been received by the Metropolitan police Service on Thursday, May 9, in relation to a tweet published on May 8.”
Radio broadcaster Adrian Chiles described Baker’s situation as “bizarre” yesterday.
He said: “I know Danny – no well – and I think he’s a remarkable broadcaster.
“But this thing was on Twitter. It wasn’t just a conversation with your mates down the pub – it doesn’t even pass that test.

“If he’d shown me that picture down the pub and asked, ‘What do you think about this?’ I’d say ‘eh?’ and I don’t think any of his peer group would say anything other than that either.
“It’s just bizarre.”
The Sun Online has contacted Baker’s representatives for further comment.
