Sadio Mane's brace helps Liverpool wrap up Premier League season on a winning note

Liverpool ended their Premier League campaign on a high but their victory over giant slayers Wolverhampton Wanderers was not enough to help them lift their first title in about three decades.

Sadio Mane opened scoring for the Reds through a tap-in from Trent Alexander-Arnold's low cross from the right flank of the pitch.

The Senegalese benefited from Wolves poor defending in the 17th minute as they hope Manchester City would default against Brighton & Hove Albion.

Mohamed Salah returned to Liverpool's starting line up for the last game of the EPL season having missed his side's dramatic 4-0 win over Barcelona last Wednesday.

Mane doubled his side's lead with less than nine minutes left to play after volleying another sublime long pass from Trent-Arnold as he completed his brace in the encounter.

The Reds tried their best to ensure the score more than the two goals but Wolves would not allow the Champions League finalists their wish.

At the end, Jurgen Klopp's men finished with 97 points - one point behind Manchester City, who became the first team to win the title back to back since United few years back.

Next for Liverpool will be the Champions League title against Tottenham Hotspur in Madrid early next month.
