Bafta TV Awards 2019: Rochelle Humes, Maya Jama and Jodie Comer lead the way with the fashion hits on the red carpet

0

STARS have descended onto the Royal Albert Hall as the Bafta TV awards 2019 gets underway in the capital.

Among the celebrities getting it right on the red carpet are Rochelle Humes and Maya Jama – despite the latter taking inspiration from a wedding for her gown.

Tess Daly

The Strictly Come Dancing presenter matched the red carpet with her all-red ensemble.

She shunned a dress in favour of a tailored two-piece.

The 50-year-old even made sure her accessories matched, with bright red shoes and clutch to match.

Jodie Comer

The star of Killing Eve went for an elegant purple gown with one giant sleeve.

Going for an on-trend one-shouldered number, the 26-year-old kept her jewellery minimal, teaming the gown with simple bracelets.

Jodie is one of the four women up for leading actress tonight.

Maya Jama

The TV and radio presenter seems to have taken inspiration from a wedding for her gown, wearing a sleeveless floor-length white dress.

The 24-year-old’s frock is channelling the 20s with its tassel detail – but it also gives it a distinctly distressed vibe.

Maya let her jewellery do the talking tonight, wearing giant snake as a necklace.

Stephanie Davis

Actress Stephanie Davis also channelled a bridal look in a floor-length ivory fishtail gown, with a tulle bottom and intricate detailing on the top.

The 26-year-old, best known for her role in Hollyoaks, wore her long hair in a sweeping up-do, and kept her make-up dark and smoky.

The mum-of-one thanked Red Carpet Ready for her frock, whilst also praising her hair and make-up team, Jade Ewen and Carl Bembridge.

Rochelle Humes

The TV presenter went for a classic black number, which she jazzed up a bow tie at the neck.

The sheer dress also featured a very daring a side-split as well as voluminous sleeves – which swamped her hand.

The 30-year-old let her dress, from Yves Saint Laurent, do the talking with natural hair and make-up, styled by Georgia Medley.

Ruth Wilson

Rex Features

Ruth Wilson is one of the four women up for leading actress tonight.

Nominated for her role in Mrs Wilson – where she played her own grandmother – the 37-year-old stunned in a floor-length black gown.

The tuxedo-inspired dress featured button detail and cuffs as well as a statement belt – with a plunging neckline and thigh-high split.

Kimberley Garner

Rex Features

The Made in Chelsea oozed Hollywood glamour in her sleeveless back dress.

The 29-year-old went for an extravagant gown with black tulle creating an hour-glass silhouette.

Kimberley accessorised her frock with some statement jewellery, including a chunky ring, but kept her hair natural.

Nominations for drama series

  • Bodyguard, BBC1
  • Informer, BBC1
  • Killing Eve, BBC1
  • Save Me, Sky Atlantic

Scarlett Moffat

Rex Features

The former Gogglebox star flashed a bit of leg in her frock, which featured a daring side split.

The 29-year-old went for a classic black-and-white look with polka dots, with her one-sleeved top featuring a frilly hem.

And she co-ordinated her accessories, with her shoes, jewellery and bag all matching, while she swept her hair off her face in a ponytail.

Shirley Ballas

Rex Features

The Strictly Come Dancing judge kept it classic on the red carpet tonight, opting for a demure black gown.

The 58-year-old jazzed up the black frock by opting for a one-shouldered number with gold detailing at the top and hip.

And she made sure her jewellery matched, as did her mani and pedi.

Nominations for leading actress

  • Jodie Comer, Killing Eve, BBC1
  • Keeley Hawes, Bodyguard, BBC1
  • Ruth Wilson, Mrs Wilson, BBC1
  • Sandra Oh, Killing Eve, BBC1

Killing Eve leads the pack with five nominations, with both Jodie comer and Sandra Oh up for best actress.

Phoebe Waller-Bridge, who wrote and starred in the comedy Fleabag, developed the hit show – now in its second season – for UK and US audiences.

A Very English Scandal follows closely behind with four nominations.

Dozens of stars are hoping to go home with one of the trophies up for grabs, with categories including best mini-series, leading actor, must-see moment, single drama and leading actress.

Meanwhile the Met Gala 2019 saw Kim Kardashian’s rain-drop illusion gown  steal the show.

But these were the stars who failed to impress on the night, including Gigi Hadid and Katy Perry.

And from Madonna’s bumless dress to Rihanna’s pizza shawl, here’s the worst ever outfits worn to the Met Gala Ball.
